Here are highlights in history for Nov. 29, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1986 — Tribune columnist Maude Koevenig said squirrels are hardy winter residents. She also mentioned how they could bury nuts in the ground, then find them when needed, even if they were under a foot of snow.

1976 — The R-Beef House restaurant on North Bridge Avenue had a sign designating a place for snowmobile parking by customers.

1936 — The first Freeborn County 4-H banquet was held at Albert Lea’s Presbyterian Church and was attended by 400 4-H members, families and friends.
