OK, let me have it!

My Green Bay Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 30-22 on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

What? Yes, I know that the Minnesota Vikings won in overtime to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-23. Yes. Yes, I know it marks the first time since 2006 that the Packers lost their season opener. I agree Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder looked much better at the position this year. I am very happy for Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

I do know that the Packers are 0-1 and in last place in the NFC North. What? I do also know the Vikings are tied with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions for first at 1-0. I would also agree that the Vikings should beat the lowly Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Yes, tonight’s Packers game will be tough against the Bears. No, I would not like the Packers to start the season 0-2. Do I think it is too early to purchase Viking Super Bowl tickets? No. I think you should spend as much money as possible on that smart purchase.

You see, being friends — I think — with fans of the Vikings, Lions and Bears does have its downfalls. Like when they all win on opening day of the 2012-2013 football season and my team — the Packers — lose.

What? Yes, this was only a sampling of all the questions that my friends had for me. Yes, I did clean up all of the language for print. No, I will not say “Skol Vikings.”

Birthday wishes

Happy birthday in advance to Alden resident Gladys Weyrum, age 102. “Live for today,” Weyrum said. “Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn’t here yet.”

I absolutely love her way of thinking. Bless you, my dear. You made my whole week. Thank you.

And, yes, I needed it after well, you know, you may have heard, the Packers lost.
