Robert Kennelly, 95, Albert Lea

Robert James Kennelly, 95, said “Hello” to his maker on Oct. 18, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea after a short illness.

Bob grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. He was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. Bob spent his entire life in Albert Lea. In his last years, in spite of poor eyesight, he could identify most houses and buildings and some stories about them.

Survivors include daughter, JoAnne (Jim) Groos, of St. Charles, Mo. Daughter, Judy (Leo) Yokiel of Newton, Iowa. Grandchildren: Daniel (Tina) Groos of St. Charles, Mo., Julie (Chris) Van Tassel of Nashville, Tenn., Jeff (Beth) Yokiel of West Des Moines, Iowa, Sara (Bryan) Howell of Alpharetta, Ga., and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Bob donated his body to the Mayo Clinic for research. He was a loving and thoughtful person.
