Maurine Wayne, 96, Ellendale

Funeral services for Maurine S. Wayne of Ellendale will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. The Rev. Carrie McElfresh will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery.

Maurine died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at St John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 96 years of age.

Maurine was born July 1, 1916, in Mower County the daughter of Knute and Christine Lestrud. She attended and graduated from public school. On Aug. 21, 1976 she was united in marriage to Loren W. Wayne at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Maurine lived in Albert Lea for many years working at the First National Bank. She also lived in Geneva and Ellendale. Maurine was a member of the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva and active in the women’s group and women’s Bible study.

Maurine enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives.

She is survived by her step-children, Cheryl Kalakian of Madison Lake and Howard (Shirley) Wayne of Longmont, Colo. There are four step-grandchildren: Mitchell (Joanne) Wayne, Brett (Celeste Matarazzo) Wayne, Shannon (Mark) McCollough, Karey (BJ) Peterson; four step-great-grandchildren: Anne, Robyn, Luke and Heather. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1979, two grandchildren; Kerby and Heather Kalakian, four sisters; Elma Wayne, Orley Wayne, Mamie Wayne, Helen Johnson and one brother Kermit Lestrud.
