Vernon Anfinson, 72, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Vernon Dale Anfinson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Al Stoa of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service.

Vernon died Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was 72 years old.

Vernon was born on Oct. 8, 1940, in Albert Lea. The son of Martin and Eva (Hermanson) Anfinson, he attended Albert Lea high school and lived in Freeborn County his whole life. From 1967 to 1978 he was married to Diane White. Together they had two daughters.

Vernon was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He worked as a roll mill operator at Streater for more than 30 years and loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a member of the HOG group, Eagles and Abate. He loved NASCAR and his dog and cat, Jake and Nigel.

He is survived by his children, Sherri Longe of Freeborn and Sandra (Michael) Batten of Albert Lea; former wife, Diane (Eugene) White of Austin; grandchildren, Jade (Javier Gaytan) Anfinson of Albert Lea, Eva Jensen of Albert Lea, Dakota Jensen of Albert Lea, Tyler Longe of Freeborn, Samuel Longe of Freeborn, Martin Longe of Freeborn, Blaine Longe of Freeborn and Gordon Longe of Freeborn; great-grandchildren, Javier and Clara Gaytan; sister, Arlene (Lloyde) Dittlefson of Maple Grove; niece, Susan (Todd) Stenson of Golden Valley; nephew, David (Andrea) Dittlefson of Osseo; and other loving relatives and friends.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Eva; and two brothers, Robert and Gordon.
