Diane K. Steele, 59, of Lake Mills, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Center Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills with the Rev. Thomas Rank officiating. Burial will be in Center Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Diane Kay (Anderson) Steele was born June 29, 1954, at the hospital in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Gorden and Kay (Geddes) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Center Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended Scarville Christian Day School for five years, then attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School with the class of 1972.

Diane was united in marriage to Bruce Steele on Nov. 20, 1976.

Family was very important to Diane. She was a lifelong member of Center Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, married and served as main organist for 46 years.

She loved music, reading books, raising hosta (she had more than 300 varieties), quilting, Belgian horses, traveling, attending horse sale and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. She loved cats and her favorite dog, Snickers. Diane worked at Deluxe/Fleetguard/Cummins in Lake Mills for 37 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce, of Lake Mills; mother and father Gorden and Kay Anderson of Scarville, Iowa; mother-in-law, Carmen Steele, of Albert Lea; brothers and sisters Julie (Kent) Swenson of Scarville, Gorden Jr. (Denise) Anderson and Geoffrey (Jodie) Anderson, all of Leland, Iowa, and Annette (Brian) Larson of Janesville; brothers and sisters-in-law Ronnie (Mary) Steele of Ellendale and David Steele and Jim (Mary Kaye) Steele, all of Albert Lea; special cousin, Mark (Sandy) Haugen of Forest City, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; father-in-law, Raymond Steele in 2007; and aunts Gloria Haugen and Jane Geddes.
