Kyle Ooms, a 2012 graduate of Albert Lea High School, was one of three student-athletes from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul chosen as an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week awards, according to a press release.

Ooms was selected as the conference’s men’s basketball Player of the Week. He averaged a double-double in last week’s games with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Eagles are in first place in the conference standings, and one more victory will give them a share of the conference title.

The other two award winners were Mollie Sir as the Player of the Week in women’s basketball, and Jordan Skarin as the Player of the Week in women’s track and field. Skarin ran the 60-meter dash in 8.27 seconds.
