ST. PAUL — A man with four previous drunken driving convictions has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison after admitting he was drunk when he hit and killed a pedestrian.

Thirty-seven-year-old Anthony Frausto will be required to serve about three years in prison before supervised release for killing 56-year-old Gary Rumpza near his home in August. Frausto had pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide. He vowed in court never to drink and drive again.

Authorities said Frausto’s blood alcohol content was 0.206 at the scene. That’s more than twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.

Frausto faced a nearly seven-year term. He was convicted of drunken driving in Minnesota four times between 1999 and 2007.
