We are so fortunate to have so many great things going on in Albert Lea! I enjoyed attending “South Pacific” this past week and now we are gearing up at the museum for our visit from Marion Ross. She has

graciously agreed to several special museum events. She will be one of our portrayers in our annual Echoes from the Past: A Journey into History that will take place at the museum at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19. Tickets are $7.50 and available at the museum. Seating is limited, so purchase your tickets soon.

Echoes from the Past will include the stories of four early Freeborn County residents portrayed by four re-enactors telling their life stories. Marion will be one of these re-enactors. She will be portraying the life of Sadie Bliss Cox, a music teacher and much more! Our other re-enactors will be Dylan Kaercher portraying Anders N. Teslow, Gary Schindler as George Briggs and Elizabeth Harty portraying Martha (Partridge) Robson Gibbs. Please plan to join us for an enjoyable evening and a chance to learn the history of four individuals that helped to form our local history. After the presentations the Sons of Norway will provide refreshments for all attendees.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the presentation will take place in the new meeting rooms on the upper level of the museum addition. We are happy to announce that we have installed our new PA system and everyone should be able to hear the presenters.

And of course, we have an elevator for those unable to use the stairs.

On Aug. 20 is our “Evening with Marion Ross” event. This is a social, dinner and interview with Marion Ross. Tickets are $20 each or two for $35. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a social followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and after dinner an informal interview as Marion tells about her life and answers questions.

This is also a limited seating event and tickets are available now at the museum.

During Marion’s visit she will also be meeting with members of Albert Lea Community Theater Board of Directors to hear about their plans for their 50th anniversary celebration taking place in September of this year.

We at the museum will also be featuring special temporary exhibits for this ACT 50th anniversary celebration. We have been working with ACT to scan and preserve their 50-year history through their programs, photos, scrapbooks and posters. We have created photo collages and posters to be used for the event and then kept as part of our collection for future use and to preserve their history.

Please join us for these special events right here in Albert Lea!
