Henrietta Schmidt

Henrietta E. Schmidt, age 88, formerly of Emmons, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. Funeral services will be held at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will be at St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Henrietta was born Sept. 2, 1920, to Henry and Esther Katzung in Kiester, where she grew up and graduated from high school.
On May 6, 1941, she married Phalen C. Seedorf. They have two children: Cleon P. Seedorf and Dawn K. (Dan) Diemer. Phalen died March 7, 1970. During their marriage they lived in Kiester, Ruthton and Alden.
On May 19, 1973, Henrietta married George (Smitty) B. Schmidt. To this union, she welcomed stepchildren Steve Schmidt, Helen (Dick) Lee, Fred (Pixie) Schmidt, Vickie Helland and Donald Schmidt. George died Jan. 18, 2003. During their marriage, they lived in Albert Lea and lastly, Emmons.
Other survivors are her sister, LaVon Wegner; sister-in-law, Verna (Omer) Helland; grandchildren: Phalen Seedorf, Christopher Seedorf and Desirae (Jeri) Wagner; great-grandchildren: C.J. Seedorf, Madison Seedorf, Ashley Hanson and Kylie Wagner; and many nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren.
Henrietta loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed dancing, playing piano and accordion and later just enjoyed listening to music.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove, Alden American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Frank and Esther Seedorf; husbands Phalen and George; and brothers-in-law Myron (Mike) Seedorf and Philip Wegner.
