City, county issue permits

October reports issued by the city’s Inspection Department and the county’s Planning and Zoning Office show their valuation amounts for building permits issued during the month to be fairly close.

The county’s report shows 22 building permits with a listed valuation of $1,183,619 were issued during October. This increases the total estimated valuation for permits issued during the first 10 months of the year to $22,331,980.

The major permits issued by the county were for two new homes, a $262,151 remodeling project for Titan Machinery, 209th Street, Albert Lea, $200,000 for a building at I-90 Recycling, County Road 14, Bancroft, and $45,000 for remodeling at the I-35 Rest Stop just north of the Iowa line.

During October, the city issued 32 building permits with a valuation of $1,164,940. This increases the total valuation for city permits to $11,899,502 for the first 10 months of the year.

At the end of October 2008 the city’s report showed a building permit valuation of $11,703,267.

The major permits were for a duplex on Crystal Drive, a new home on Belmont Street, and a Therma Plastic roof at Cargill, 702 13th St., with a valuation of $297,000.
