John Misgen, 62, Ellendale

Funeral services for John Thomas Misgen, better known as “Tom” or “Tucker” of Ellendale, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Litomysl Catholic Church, rural Steele County. The Rev. Swammi will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the St. Aidens Catholic Church in Ellendale, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna.
John died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, in Brooklyn Park. He was 62 years of age.
John was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Owatonna, the son of John Clark and Eleanor (Jasinski) Misgen. He graduated from Ellendale High School and attended Austin Community College and Winona State University.
John was united in marriage to Nancy Dube June 28, 1975, in Owatonna and later divorced. He was self employed driving truck for Misgen Trucking. He was a member of the Owatonna Eagles Club and Elks Club.
John enjoyed visiting with and meeting new people. He told great stories, was always up to date on current events and loved to sing. In his free time, you could find him fishing, working crosswords, watching television with the kids or playing cards. He had a great love of driving his truck to see new places, cooking with the “Holy Trinity” and spending time with the family and grandkids.
John is survived by his children: Melissa Ann Misgen of Tampa, Fla., Maria Louise Nelson (Josh) of Eagan, Macey Eleanor Misgen of Ellendale, Marcy Elizabeth Blaschko (Jesse) of Faribault, John Thomas-Donald Misgen (Megan) of Owatonna, Michelle Lyn Misgen of Minneapolis. There are 10 grandchildren, one brother; Lonnie (Doc) Misgen of Ellendale, nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ann Tigner.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
