Ruby Adams, 81, Glenville

Funeral services for Ruby Patricia Adams, 81, of Glenville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruby died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Ruby Adams

Ruby was born on Dec. 3, 1928, to William and Mary (Horan) Skahan in Rose Creek. She attended school in Austin. Ruby was united in marriage to Kirkwood Adams on Feb. 4, 1946, at the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea where she and Kirkwood were members. They made their home on a farm east of Glenville until they retired from farming and moved to their home in Glenville. Ruby was active at St. Theodore’s. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Northwood Country Club. Ruby enjoyed golf, gardening, playing Yahtzee, and for many years was a caregiver to Kirkwood. Ruby loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their many sports and school activities. She was a devoted mother and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children: Terry (Bonnie) Adams of Albert Lea, Dean (Sherry) Adams of Glenville, Maureen (Rob) Dolan of Plymouth, Julie (David) Greibrok of Lyle, Teresa Reeder of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and daughter-in-law, Diane Webb of Glenville; grandchildren: Chad (Amy) Adams, Brett (Kelly) Adams, Kristen (Hans) Rivrud, Lisa (Randy) Hunter, Darren Adams, Brad (Janice) Adams, Zach, Josh and Michael Adams, Katie Dolan and fiancé Josh, Danny Greibrok, Joey Greibrok and fiancé Jenn, and Jamie Greibrok, Casey Reeder and Jordan Reeder (special friend Nick Skow); great-grandchildren: Terri, Danielle and Amanda Hunter, Liam and Phoebe Adams, Hunter Adams, Jayce Skow and Bjorn Rivrud; sister, Evelyn Irvin; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents: William and Mary Skahan; husband, Kirkwood; son, Danny Adams; mother and father-in-law: Bill and Josie Adams; brothers, Ray and John Skahan; sisters-in-law: Ardeth and Ardell Adams, Bette (Frank) Hacker and Merle (Kenneth) Sandvig; and brother-in-law, Joe Irvin.

Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Theodore, American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.
