The funeral service for Joy Elizabeth Bergstrom of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Crossroads Community Hospice or St. Theodore Catholic Parish or St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Joy died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 80 years old.

Joy was born July 27, 1930, to Edward W. and Ruth L.(Johnson) Walk. She was a lifetime Albert Lea resident and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948. She married Eugene R. Kosmoski on Nov. 27, 1948, and he died June 26, 1957. She then married Eslie O. Bergstrom on July 28, 1960, and he died April 15, 2008. Joy was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and was a past member of St. Theodore Rosary Society, Parish Board and Personnel Committee. She especially enjoyed visiting those in the hospital and Good Samaritan Center bringing them communion and prayer. Joy was a charter member of the Mower and Freeborn County Legal Secretaries Association and was their past president and also was Legal Secretary of the Year. Joy was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the D.O.E.’S. Joy enjoyed gardening, oil painting, cooking, baking, music and dancing.

Joy is survived by four children: Cindy (Randy) Bottelson of Eden Prairie, Linda (Gregg) Sainsbury of Hutchinson, Jayne (Dale) Warner of Maple Grove and Rick Bergstrom of Clarks Grove; grandchildren: Eric (Heather) Kosmoski and their children Drake, Chesska, Justis and Nikka, Bryan (Sarah) Kosmoski and their children Desmond and Kendra, Krista (Dave) Dickman and their children Macy and Kate, Laura Bottelson, Gregg M. (Amy) Sainsbury and their children: Lucy and Isaac, Jennifer Sainsbury, Angie Warner and her son Cody Brynman, Ryan Warner and Amber Bergstrom; brothers: Gary (Gloria) Walk of Albert Lea and Dean (Jane) Walk of Bemidji; sisters: Bette (Bob) Guenther of Alden and Judy (Don) Schultz of Medford; sister-in-law, Sheila Walk of Albert Lea.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Ruth Walk; husbands: Eugene R. Kosmoski and Eslie Bergstrom; son, Wayne Kosmoski; brothers: Bruce, David, Larry and Ron Walk.
