Here are highlights in history for Oct. 7, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1986 — Andrea Ayers and Tim Millhouse were crowned as Homecoming king and queen at Albert Lea High School.

1976 — The Albert Lea City Council was considering four sites in the central business district for future use as parking lots.

1956 — Carlyle (Conky) Stanek, well-known Albert Lea boxer, won the lightweight championship of the First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
