Here are highlights in history for April 18, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1993 — A reward of $1,500 was being offered for information about the vandals who tipped over tombstones at both Graceland and Lakewood cemeteries.

1983 — A survey of 41 business buildings along Broadway Avenue found that nine locations were in need of minimal repairs and two more structures were in need of critical repairs.

1943 — Owners and operators of 40 Albert Lea eating places would be eliminating meat from their menus of Tuesdays and Fridays as part of a World War II rationing campaign.
