Here are highlights in history for May 5, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1992 — The Albert Lea High School Tigers baseball team defeated the Owatonna High school team with a score of 16-3. The Tribune report said this game was like a top-40 radio station by saying, “The hits just kept on coming.”

1982 — The Freeborn County Board approved $745 for veterans organizations to buy small flags to be used a graveside memorials on Memorial Day.
