The funeral service for Virginia D. Breamer will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Concordia Lutheran Church Pickerel Lake. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Virginia passed on to her new life at 11:02 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She died peacefully, surrounded by family members and the loving care of the staff at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Virginia was 85 and enjoyed a life full of family, friends and faith until her last days. For six months prior to her death, she received excellent care as she lived among her new community at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

She was the daughter of Albert C. and Hulda (Wittmer) Bangert, born on Sept. 24, 1925, on the family farm near Armstrong. On Oct. 11, 1945, she married Donald R. Breamer at Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was also baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member. Virginia was active in the church women’s group, serving as secretary for several years. She also enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.

In her younger years she was a 4-H leader and was active in Home Extension. She enjoyed quilting, baking and taking pictures. Her life’s work included cooking at St. John’s and catering, which also carried into her home and social life, where she always encouraged people to eat a lot. Virginia will be fondly remembered as an organizer and instigator of many family and social gatherings — she loved getting everyone together.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Donald, her children: daughter Donna (Robert) Nelson of Alden, sons Bruce Breamer and special friend Sharon of Fairhaven, Mass., and Brian (Kathryn) Breamer of Mason City, Iowa; four granddaughters: Sarah Nelson of Peoria, Ill., Rachael (Matthew) Korman of Alden, Andrea Breamer of Minneapolis, and Stephanie Breamer of Grimes, Iowa; and one great grandson, Weston Korman of Alden. She was preceded in death by her parents.
