Here are highlights in history for July 31, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1990 — Water levels in Fountain Lake rose a full foot because of recent rainfall, according to the depth gauge near the Bridge Avenue Dam.

1980 — Baldemar Huerta was one of the musical stars appearing at the Freeborn County Fair. (Huerta was better known under his professional name of Feddy Fender.)

1950 — The new rates at Naeve Hospital for private rooms were $11 per day with telephones, and $10.50 per day without telephones.
