Here are highlights in history for Oct. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1991 — A 1984 Mercury auto rolled down Harriet Lane into Fountain Lake. The car had reportedly been set in park, but slipped out of gear and went into the lake.

1981 — St. Paul Clothiers, at the corner of West Main Street and South Broadway Avenue, was celebrating its 60th anniversary with a special sale.

1951 — Helen Billings of Albert Lea was elected national president of Wa Tan Ye at their convention in Mitchell, S.D.
