Bring Olmsted back to her job

Having worked with Rose Olmsted on a professional level in the aftermath of the Rocori High School shooting, to say I was dismayed when I found out that she was “let go” would be a gross understatement. When the Rocori High School shooting took place in September of 2003, I personally contacted Rose’s organization for assistance, and she more than answered the call. Her selfless dedication, professionalism and ability to be a resource as well as to identify resources were indispensable, and her presence was a great comfort to the staff in the Rocori school district as well as first responders and others in the community of Cold Spring.
To learn that a person of such high esteem, experience, caring and competence was let go seems to me to be, to put it lightly, a not-so-well-though-out decision. I call on the Freeborn County commissioners to reconsider the treasured resource they had in Rose Olmsted and to allow her once again to admirably serve the residents of Freeborn County and beyond.
Victims of crime and disaster need a voice and an advocate, and few, if any, are more qualified in that capacity than Rose Olmsted.
