NORTHFIELD — In her fourth trip to the Class AA state cross country meet, Albert Lea junior Chrissy Monson still hasn’t had the run she’s been looking for.

Monson finished 54th with a time of 15 minuted and 21 1/2 seconds at the meet in St. Olaf on Saturday morning, but she was hoping to do better.

“I love the people I meet and see here, but I haven’t always met my expectations in the race,” she said. “I haven’t had my best runs here. I’ll be back and there’s no worries, we’ll see what we can do during track season and I’m more fired up than ever. I’m not done yet.”

While St. Olaf’s course is a tough one to negotiate, Monson wasn’t about to make any excuses.

“I’m disappointed, but I’ve got to put it behind me and keep going,” she said. “It’s definitely a challenging course, but that’s the type of course you should have at state. It shouldn’t be a cake walk for anyone.”
