MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police have recovered a gun from an employee’s locker at an elementary magnet school.
Minneapolis Public Schools said Wednesday an employee of Seward Montessori School had the gun in a locked locker on campus.
Officials say no staff members or students were harmed or threatened, and there is no evidence the employee planned to use the gun.
But Seward was put on code yellow for the rest of the school day Wednesday. Instruction continued as usual, but students remained in their classrooms.
Police recovered the weapon at 8:30 a.m., and the staffer was removed from the building and placed on administrative leave.
Bringing a gun to school is against Minnesota law and violates Minneapolis Public Schools policy.
