Albert Lea basketball standout hopes to play in college

Q: What year are you in school?
A: A junior.

Q: What school do you attend?
A: Albert Lea.

Q: Who is your immediate family?
A: My mom is Sheri, dad Duane, stepdad Derek, stepmom Christa, brother Johnathan, 17, sister Madi ,10 and brother Dylan (12).

Q: What sports are you involved in?
A: Football, basketball and baseball.

Q: What number are you in basketball?
A: 33.

Q: How did you get started in basketball?
A: I started at the Y. Most everybody in my family plays, so I just started playing.

Q: What other extracurricular activities are you involved in?
A: I work at the 112 on Broadway. And church. Youth group there and confirmation classes.

Q: Did your parents play sports when they were younger?
A: Yeah, my mom played basketball and volleyball, and she did shotput in track. My dad played football for a little bit, but in high school he played basketball.

Q: Do you have siblings who play or have played any sports?
A: Oh yeah. Johnathan, he’s the same age as me, plays football and baseball. Dylan, he plays football and basketball and baseball. Madi, she’s in dance and then plays basketball and softball.

Q: What are your sports related achievements?
A: Two times got All-Conference for football and two times All-Area. Two-year starter so far for football. And then for football, got invited to Minnesota Junior Day. And then for basketball, two-year starter, and baseball, one-year starter so far.

Q: What are your sports related goals?
A: I’d like to play a sport in college somewhere.

Q: Any idea of which sport you’d like to play?
A: Probably football or basketball. Most likely division one or division two.

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete? Why?
A: Andre Johnson, because he’s humble.

Q: What is your favorite school subject?
A: Probably history. It’s interesting.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher?
A: Jim Haney.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like to swim. I don’t play golf as a sport, but I like to do that just for the fun of it. And probably, just hanging out with friends, boating or something.

Q: What is your dream job?
A: Probably be a professional athlete.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: Movie is “White Chicks.” Probably Sports Center or ESPN.

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Pasta or spaghetti.

Q: What is an interesting fact about you?
A: I’m tall.
