Dear Dad,

I’m writing this letter to let you know it’s only been a month since I saw you last and can’t tell you how much I miss you. I can truly say that you are a man of honor and integrity. You were always a quick-with-a joke-or-to-light-up-your-smoke kind of guy. I’m still working on what you and Mom taught me over the years. (Family, kindness, forgiveness, truth and not to mention a good gut-wrenching laugh as often as possible).

It reminds me of the time just after your surgery in 2011 when Tari asked you that since you quit drinking for Mom 30 years ago, will you quit smoking for us kids? You said “but I liked her better.”

You’re a legend, Pops.
