Cheryl Siblerud

Cheryl Renee Siblerud died peacefully at her home in rural Hartland at the age of 58 on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, from esophageal cancer. She was born on July 13, 1956, to Ronald and Donna (Dahl) Siblerud in Albert Lea. Cheryl was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She attended Albert Lea schools and graduated from high school in 1974.

Cheryl will always be remembered for her strong devotion to family and her ability to deeply care for others. She had the rare gift of being able to consistently listen to others with her heart. Not only was Cheryl a very caring listener, she was also a devoted caregiver for her aging family members. Cheryl assisted her aunts Orva Breuer and JoAnn Nelson to enable them to live in their homes for as long as possible. Then, Cheryl lovingly made the sacrifice of being the full-time caregiver for her mother after a debilitating stroke in 2006, which enabled her mother to live at home until the day of her passing on Jan. 20, 2014. She faithfully attended to her mother’s needs despite her own battle with cancer, which began in December of 2012.

Cheryl was a beloved daughter to her father, who taught her to fish at a young age. She loved fishing with him on a lake in his boat. Cheryl also enjoyed watching baseball and football games with her father throughout her life.

Cheryl was a treasured sister to Rhonda, who preceded her in death due to breast cancer in 2013. She always showered her love on Rhonda’s daughters Amber and Ashley and her great-niece, Faith. Cheryl was also a wonderful niece and cousin, and she leaves many beautiful memories of her to cherish.

Cheryl’s deeply caring nature, her quiet strength and her sweet presence will be greatly missed. Her inspiring example of unselfish giving in caring for others will not be forgotten. Cheryl’s strong faith in God was unshakable regardless of circumstances. What blessed assurance it is to know she is now with the Lord.

Cheryl is survived by her father, Ronald Siblerud, of Hartland; nieces Amber (and special friend, Zachariah Crail) and Ashley (and special friend, Shaun Lyngaas), as well as great-niece, Faith Kay Crail, all of Albert Lea.
