On behalf of the Nation of Patriots and Albert Lea Harley Owners Group, we want to thank everyone who helped make our fundraiser on July 21 at Pizza Ranch such a huge success.

Thank you to Pizza Ranch for hosting this event, which raised $1,091.95 for our 2014 Nations of Patriots goal. Folks who went out of their way to help us advertise and bring this event about included Bergdale Harley Davidson, Dima Corporation, KATE Radio, Power 96, Classic Cruisers Car Club, Allen Kaderabek, Northbridge Mall and Albert Lea Tribune for its articles covering this annual fundraiser.

Coupled with donations from Albert Lea American Legion’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon project during spring, which raised $807, and donations received locally, we are presently at a total of $1,926.95.

Bergdale Harley Davidson and Albert Lea HOG chapter just hosted a sweet corn feed which will bring us closer yet to our goal when it is complete.

We want to invite the public to join us at Bergdale Harley Davidson at noon on Tuesday as we receive Eden Prairie HOG chapter escorting the flag to us. Their arrival will be at noon. There will be a short flag-passing ceremony including the Honor Guard.

On Wednesday, we will assemble riders from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Bergdale’s to escort the flag to Waukon, Iowa. We will depart at 9 a.m. This is an open event for all who want to participate. We ask a $5 donation from each participant to go toward this fundraiser.

Once the flag is returned to Wisconsin on Labor Day, we will determine who will be the recipient(s) of this year’s donations. Because the Nation of Patriots is a 501(c)(3) public charity and because all work is conducted by volunteers, 100 percent of the funds raised will be used to assist veterans injured in combat with unmet needs. Our presentation will be scheduled in November once recipient(s) are identified. This presentation is also open to the public.
