Gloria Johnson, 1949-2014

Gloria Jean Johnson, 64, of Rochester died at Owatonna Care Center Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born Oct. 8, 1949, to Lowell F. and Jeanette (Thompson) Johnson in Austin, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1967. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
She worked in food service at The Kahler, St. Marys Hospital and Michael’s restaurant. Gloria taught Sunday school, made lefse and sang in the choir at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. She enjoyed family gatherings, giving special attention to her nieces, nephews and all their children. She loved dogs, having owned several.
Gloria Johnson is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Kenneth) Dockham of Albert Lea and Rose (Dennis) Wendt of Stewartville; one brother, Kenneth Johnson, of Austin; two nieces, Penney (Tom) Thompson of Albert Lea and Andrea Wendt of Rochester; and four nephews, Jonathan (Tonya) Johnson of Warren, Mich., Matthew (Kelly) Johnson of Farmington, Nathaniel (Kathy) Johnson of Owatonna and Shawn Wendt of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lola Mae Johnson and Lila Davis; sister-in-law, Lucille Johnson; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Dockham.
Funeral services were Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerry Giese officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
