Elect Johnson and Bennett on Nov. 4

Local voters have an important decision to make with the election just a short time away — who will make policy decisions that impact us all next year in St. Paul.

Ask yourself this: Do you want more tax and spend, taxes increased (over $4 billion for fiscal years 2014-15 and 2016-17), billions more in spending (almost $4.5 billion for fiscal year 2014-15 and 2016-17) passed by Rep. Savick and Gov. Mark Dayton in 2013? Or do you want a return to responsible budgeting? Many Democrats say that government cannot budget like you and I or a small business. I say, why not?

Dayton and the DFL promised property tax relief while property taxes went up statewide. They promised reductions in insurance costs and premiums, and they have only gone up. Promised middle class tax breaks — but did your state taxes go down? Mine didn’t! They promised to tax the rich and must have defined that as everyone because we all ended up with larger tax bills, especially farmers with them shoulder double-digit property tax increases and a new tax for every farm parcel in Minnesota.

It is time for a change. It is time to end this shell game of empty promises to get elected only to payoff special interests once elected. It is time to make government work for us and not the other way around. The DFL already is trying to force unions on care providers and day care owners in Minnesota. Who is next in line? Dayton and Savick voted to end coal-powered energy in Minnesota — which will cost you much more for electricity in the future. Who are they looking out for again?

It’s time to elect leaders who know the government’s job is to improve business climate, not pick winners and losers in business. It is time that we return to sensible energy policy in Minnesota not simply sticking everyone with increased energy costs. It is time to invest in transportation statewide not just unaffordable and inefficient train projects in the metro area. It’s time to reform and make education world class, not just throw money at it hoping things change. Our kids deserve better, taxpayers, small businesses and farmers all deserve better.

It is time to elect real leadership. Join me in supporting Peggy Bennett as your next state representative and Jeff Johnson as governor!
