Memorial services for Vivian C. “Binnie” Sorenson of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Vivian died at Mayo Clinic Health System of Albert Lea Monday, Oct. 6, 2014.

Vivian was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Janesville, the daughter of Earl and Lilly (Born) Bolinger. Moving to Albert Lea in 1941, she graduated from high school in 1951.

On Jan. 15, 1956, she was united in marriage to Rodger Sorenson.

Vivian was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as trustee, congregational secretary, Hannah Circle, financial assistant, sang in the choir and many other committees. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Vivian had been employed by Northwestern Bell from 1951 to 1953, Les Olson Shoes from 1953 to 1957, the Albert Lea American Legion for 19 years, Jake’s Pizza for 13 years and the Kaffe Hus. She retired from Agilis as a mail sorter after seven years on Feb. 2, 2010.

In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, camping, playing cards, family activities and trips to Las Vegas.

Vivian is survived by her children Steve Sorenson (Kris Johnson), Dan (Sandi) Sorenson, Tami (Kevin) Weitzel and daughter-in-law, Julie Sorenson; grandchildren include Tia (Michael) Malouff, Derek Sorenson, Allyssa Sorenson (fiance, Brian Tomlinson), Cole Sorenson, Lauren Sorenson, Dane Weitzel, Jaclyn Weitzel, Erin (Derek) Rounds, Breann (Mat) Estes and Katie (Josh) Cords; great-grandchildren Max Malouff, Jason Rounds, Damien and Rhaea Estes and Christian Cords; brothers and sisters include Harold (Doris) Bolinger, Dorothy (John) Gonzalez, Nancy (James) Bottelson, Cindy (Jerry) Fenton, Don (Mary) Sorenson and Geri Sorenson; and many nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodger; son, Scott; brother, Vern (Barbara) Bolinger; sisters Fern Hausman and Frances Rupp; father-in-law and mother-in-law Harvey and Stella Sorenson; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathleen and her husband, Ed Madson, and Dwayne Sorenson; and nephews Richard Bolinger and Allen Madson.

Thanks to all the family, Senior Court friends, church cheer and comfort volunteers and Hospice for their visits, flowers, food and calls which meant a lot to Vivian and her family.
