Event recognized lives tragically lost

On Thursday, the Tribune published a photo and article I sent them about an event held at the parishes of St. Theodore and St. James. Thank you to the Tribune staff for doing so. I was, however, disappointed to see that much of the information sent to them was not included, so please let me share with you now the information that was intended to be printed.

The parishioners of St. Theodore and St. James Catholic churches hosted a Life is God’s Miracle Baby Shower to recognize the millions of lives tragically lost to abortion. In honor of these lives, generous members donated much needed baby products, including diapers, wipes, baby washes and lotions, blankets, clothes, hats and mittens to the Healthy Families Program run through the Public Health office of Freeborn County. Freeborn County Public Health strives to preserve, protect and promote the health and well-being of people in Freeborn County. Cash donations will go toward car seats. Baby products will be distributed to community members during Home Visits.

The persons in the photo are Natalie Loock, Public Health lead, Carol Ganrude, home visitor, Paulette Beckmann, parent visitor, the Rev. Timothy Reker, pastor of St. Theodore and St. James, and Sue Yost, director of Public Health.

I am grateful to the kind and caring members of these parishes and for the work of our county’s Public Health Department for reaching out and making a difference in our community!

Thank you and God bless.
