Gene G. Monson, 84, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Big Lake, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Gene was born June 5, 1931, to Gilbert and Agnes Monson. Following his marriage to Phyllis Undahl they lived in several different areas of the country following Gene’s career.

Phyllis and Gene were blessed with two children, Mark Monson and Michele Malcy and four grandchildren: Melissa, Christopher, Nicole, Jacob and Kayla. Gene was especially proud to be the only surviving great-grandparent of Nicole’s infant daughter, Isabelle.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; and brother, Robert Monson.

A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Marana Veterans Cemetery. Bring’s Broadway Chapel in Tucson is caring for the Monson family during their time of loss.

The Monson family has suggested memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society.
