Weekend Planner: Abundance of activities slated for weekend

Set to take place Saturday and Sunday is Hayward Days, a fun weekend for the entire family. The weekend kicks off with the April Sorensen Half Marathon at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, which you can read more about below, and other events can be found on here.

 

Friday

The Bling It Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea rotunda. The sale will include costume and fashion jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more. All money raised will benefit local programs.

Wedgewood Park will host a free slip n’ slide water day from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Bring a swimsuit and towel and chairs or blankets.

The Albert Lea Art Center will host the Art & Garden Tour from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Frank Hall Park will host the Pelican Breeze pizza cruise from 6 to 8 p.m. Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. Friday and cost $20, which includes pizza from Green Mill and the cruise. Call 507-783-7273 to reserve a spot.

Saturday

The April Sorensen Memorial Half Marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Country Inn & Suites in Albert Lea and will end in Hayward.

The Shinefest tractor ride will take place at 9 a.m. at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will offer local produce, baked goods, meats, crafts, gluten-free goods, flowers, bedding plants and more from 9 a.m. to noon in the Northbridge Mall parking lot.

The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center presents “Wizard of Oz” at 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets on the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center website.

 

Sunday

The Albert Lea Art Center will host an open house for the “Barnes are Noble” exhibit from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Sunday cruise on the Pelican Breeze will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. No reservation is needed for the $10 cruise that leaves from Frank Hall Park.

The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center presents “Wizard of Oz” at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets on the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center website.

Music in the Park will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Fountain Lake Park. Music will be provided by country artist Diamond Hall.
