Funeral services for Gennell M. Iverson, 69, of Winona, will be at 10 a.m. a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Hayward Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joshua Enderson will officiate. Gennell died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Gennell Marie Iverson was born the fourth child of Simon and Gertrude (Nelson) Iverson on Feb. 15, 1947. She grew up on the family farm attending District 60, Hayward, and Albert Lea Schools before graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1965 and Winona State University in 1969. She spent most of her working life at Winona State University before retiring due to ill health. While her health permitted, she enjoyed biking the trails in Winona, gardening, and cooking. As her health declined, she continued her life-long loves of reading and sharing her life with cats.

Gennell is survived by sister, Sharon Bornfleth of Wisconsin; brothers Keith (Janet) Iverson of Hayward and Stuart (Alice) Iverson of Canada; nieces and nephews Sherida (Rich) Bornfleth, Kevin (Kristin) Bornfleth, Josh (Steph) Madson, Kyle (Rita) Iverson, Sarah (Troy) Wangler, Meta Johnson, Scott Iverson, Chris (Tracy) Iverson; great-nieces and nephews Emma and Ryan Bornfleth, Autumn and Conner Madson, Theadora and Simon Iverson, Elizabeth Wangler, Heather Johnson and Evelynn Holmen. Also surviving are numerous cousins and friends.

Gennell was preceded in death by her parents.
