An Albert Lea man was injured on Thursday after a motorcycle he was driving struck a street sign.

Dustin Corey Schlede, 40, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening.

Schlede was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on U.S. Highway 69 — attempting to turn east onto West Main Street — when, at a high rate of speed, the motorcycle hit a curb, entered a grass surface and hit the street sign at about 6:15 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Schlede was not wearing his helmet, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states.

Albert Lea police and fire departments assisted on scene, along with Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
