A visitation for Albert M. Chavez, 61, formerly of Albert Lea and Owatonna, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2201 E. Main St. in Albert Lea.

Albert died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Woodlyn Heights Senior Living in Inver Grove Heights.

He was born April 8, 1956, in Phoenix, one of 10 children born to Telesforo and Phyllis (Hernandez) Chavez.

Albert grew up in Albert Lea, where he graduated from high school and enjoyed playing in the band. Albert enjoyed his years living in Owatonna and working at Cabela’s. Albert had many interests — he enjoyed camping, traveling and eating, but mostly spending time with family and friends. He loved having all his nieces and nephews around.

Even though Albert had his first stroke in 2013, he remained optimistic and maintained his ever-present cheerful, happy disposition.

He is survived by his siblings Patsy Fuentez of Albert Lea, Ignacio (Jean) Chavez of Austin, Suzie (Robert) Garza of Albert Lea, Tony (Artie) Chavez of Albert Lea, Lupe Salcedo of Dallas, Greg Chavez of Minneapolis, Linda (Mike) McCulloch of Albert Lea, Delfina Chavez of Crystal and Kathy Lopez of South St. Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
