She faced many serious medical issues over her life.

Maxine enjoyed reading, studying cookbooks, watching cooking shows, making hairpin lace afghans throughout the years, of which she gifted many to loved ones. She also liked watching NBA basketball and watching “Peace and Power” every Sunday morning. Maxine enjoyed talking to her family and many friends, whether in person or on the phone. Her favorite store to shop and find treasures for herself and anyone she could think of who could use or need something was The Salvation Army Thrift Store. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and her circle, Naeve Nurses Alumni Association and the Minnesota Lupus Foundation.
