Here are highlights in history for Dec. 17, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — Dusty Thompson was the host at Buttermakers, a restaurant located in the former creamery building on the State Line Road just west of Emmons.

1977 — J.N. Brandt was named to be the new president of Almco Division and the Albert Lea Foundry, both part of King-Seeley Thermos Co.

1957 — A new ruling by the Albert Lea Police Department would allow right turns at the red light located at the corner of Clark Street and Broadway Avenue. This was the only place this was legal in the city at that time.
