Disc golf course disgraces park

Can someone tell me why the city needs four disc golf courses? There are 18 holes at Riverland, 18 holes at the lower park north of the gravel parting lot, with concrete tee-pads, and the city’s nine holes up in the main part of the park.

I think it is a slap in the face to City Manager John Elwell, Assistant City Manager Bill Schmidt, Parks and Recreation Director Faye Miller, Mayor Buzz Hagen and the city council at the time in the ’70s, for all their hard work getting this park established. It took seven years for this to happen. Money was received from the state and Bureau of Outdoor Recreation in the Department of Interior.

This park was meant for picnic areas, trail and nature areas. It was to remain wild, not to be cut up and trampled. Let’s return Bancroft Bay Park to what it was intended to be.

While I’m at it, the bumpouts on Broadway Avenue are the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard of.
