Vivian Olson, 83, Albert Lea

Funeral Services for Vivian Olson will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Revs. John Holt and Eric Aune will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Vivian Thelma Olson, 83, of Albert Lea died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea.

Vivian was born June 5, 1929, in Bricelyn, the daughter of Torstein (Ted) and Josephine (Josie) (Skogen) Helgeland. Vivian was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Frost. She graduated from Bricelyn High School and attended Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing, Minneapolis. On Aug. 16, 1952, she married Cyrus Olson of Gibbon.

Vivian worked as a nurse for 40 years, 37 of those years at Naeve Hospital (now Mayo Clinic Health System), Albert Lea. She was active in the congregations she was a part of and faithfully attended Bible studies, circles and small groups. She taught Bible studies, Sunday school, vacation Bible school and sang in the choir. She enjoyed cards, coffee and birthday parties. She loved being at the farm and camping with her family at Cass Lake. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Vivian is survived by her husband Cyrus, daughter Judy (Eric) Aune, of Norwood Young America; son, Curtis (Val Hovland) Olson of St. Paul; grandchildren Jaron (Liz Invaer) Aune, Chaska; Jennifer (Joe, Alison and Grace Miller) Aune, Waconia; Kirsten (Nolan) Radford, Chaska and great-granddaughter Keira Radford; sister Agnes Lodden, Humboldt, Iowa, and numerous nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Esther Hovland, Selma Kiihn, and three brothers, Norman, Gilman and Jerome Helgeland.
