Richard Haley, 78, Brentwood, Calif.

Richard “Doyle” Haley, 78, of Brentwood, Calif., died on Friday, May 10, 2013, at United Hospital in St. Paul. He was born on June 7, 1934, to parents Margaret Doyle and Richard Haley in Minneapolis. In 1946, Doyle moved to Albert Lea. He graduated Albert Lea High School in 1952 and received his electrical engineering degree at the University of Minnesota in 1969. He became an engineering consultant for many years throughout the United States until his retirement in 1999.

Doyle was an avid hunter, enjoyed yearly walleye fishing trips to Canada, golfing and the computer. He also played the trombone and sang with dance bands in Minnesota and Iowa. He married former high school classmate, Lorraine Schaeffer (Holleschau) in Orinda, Calif., on May 22, 2004.

A memorial service was held on Monday for Doyle at the Church of St. Matthew Lutheran in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, of California; son, Mark (Colleen); daughter, Margaret (Gus) Broman, St. Paul; son, Kevin, of California; sister, Maureen French, of Rochester; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three nieces; one nephew; and many grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Thomas.
