Joey Lynne Thomas passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea. She was 78.

Joey Lynne (Dora) was born on Oct. 2, 1937, to Joseph and Rena (Zucco) Dora in Globe, Arizona. She was raised in Globe, where she attended and graduated high school. She later went on to attend the University of Arizona, where she obtained her master’s degree in education. She taught first grade for a number of years.

On Dec. 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Rowland Lloyd Thomas in Globe. To this union, two children were born. The family made their home in Arizona and in later years moved to Albert Lea to be closer to their children. Joey was an avid golfer and was a member of Prescott Golf and Country Club in Prescott, Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Rena; son, John Gregory Thomas; and sister, Shirley (Ted) Day.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lloyd Thomas, of Albert Lea; son, Cory (Johanna) Thomas of Albert Lea; and grandchildren, Kelsey, E.J. and Andy; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
