NORTHWOOD — The Northwood-Kensett baseball team struggled throughout most of the game when it hosted West Fork Tuesday night. The Vikings lost to Wahawks in four innings, 15-0.

The game had been postponed multiple times due to bad weather, but on a perfect night for a baseball game the Vikings failed to gain any momentum at the plate and in the field.

Starting on the mound for Northwood-Kensett was junior Colten Moretz. He was relieved in the second inning by sophomore Logan Benjegerdes. The duo combined for three strikeouts in the game and allowed 15 runs.

West Fork got out to an early lead thanks to a couple of RBI base hits from Lukas Wogen and Christian Ames, and a two-shot home run from catcher Ryan Fleshner.

Benjegerdes would reach base on a walk as the first batter of the game, but the next three batters were struck out, leaving him stranded on base.

The Warhawks would open up the lead a little more in the second inning, going up 11-0 due to two RBI doubles from Ames and Mitchell Halloran.

West Fork would go on to score two more runs in the third, as well as two more in the fourth inning before the mercy rule ended the game.

Northwood-Kensett was unable to record any hits throughout the game. The only baserunner for the Vikings came from two walks by Benegerdes, a walk by sophomore Trey Waldemar and a hit-by-pitch from junior Garrett Thompson.

The closest the Vikings came to home plate was in the fourth and final inning, which saw Benjegerdes reach on a walk and steal two bases before the inning ended.

The Vikings will play again tonight as they host the St. Ansgar Saints in the final home game of the season.
