The Lake Mills wrestling team finished off an exciting day by winning three duals in their last home regular season meet, according to a press release.

In the night’s opening dual, Lake Mills defeated Algona 60-11.

“Although I thought we looked a little ragged against Algona, our kids controlled the dual amassing eight pins,” said coach Alex Brandenburg.

The team kept on cranking out the pins in the next dual as they rolled Rockford 65-12.

“We wrestled better against Rockford, as our boys raked in seven more pins,” Brandenburg said. “A lot of guys battled to the end and wrestled well in the third period.”

In the final dual of the night, Lake Mills squared off against an up and coming St. Ansgar team and battled to a 47-27 win.

“St. Ansgar has been wrestling very well lately, and we knew it would be a battle because their kids are so physically strong,” said Brandenburg. “I think we wrestled our best dual of the night, and I was happy with our wrestlers effort especially late in matches.”

With the three dual wins, the Bulldogs improved their record to 27-7.  Wrestlers who won all three of their matches were Caiden Jones, Zach Johnson, Michael Olsen, Slade Sifuentes and Cole Bergo. Grant Boehmer finished 2-0 with two pins.

Earlier in the day, the Bulldogs found out they were rated seventh in the dual rankings and would be hosting a regional dual Feb. 7.
