GLENVILLE — The Glenville-Emmons girls’ basketball team learned on Monday that it’s hard to be competitive when an opponent starts the game with a solid run.
Lyle/Pacelli defeated the Wolverines 83-26 on Monday night in Glenville. The Athletics started the game on a 38-0 run.
The two teams played the second half to a 15-15 draw, but it was clear Lyle/Pacelli dialed back its defense and slowed the game’s pace down.
Jaclyn Weitzel led Glenville-Emmons with 15 points. She shot 81 percent from the free throw line and made nine shots from the charity stripe.
Glenville-Emmons (0-9 overall, 0-8 Southeast Conference) will be back in action at 6 p.m. tonight when it hosts Spring Grove.
The Lions (9-3 overall, 8-0 Southeast Conference) lost their most recent matchup 53-47 at La Crescent on Monday.
