Lens & Shutter Photography Club holds annual awards picnic

The Lens & Shutter Photography Club held its annual end-of-year awards picnic on May 21 at the home of Carol Haroldson. There were 20 members and guests present.

The competition category for May was open. Members receiving awards were Ron Oyer, first place for “At Rest;” Jim Wendel, second place for “Dutchman’s Britches;” and Linda Mixon, third place for “Watching You.” Members receiving honorable mentions were Linda Eisterhold for “Mountain View,” Ron Oyer for “Capital Reef National Park” and Linda Mixon for “Cardinal Alert.” Merit awards were given to John Eisterhold for “Hard Rock Arches” and Carol Bertleson for “Prickly Balls.”

Darcy Sime captured the June Wells Award for the Best of the Best photograph of the year, entitled “Mountain Morning.” Jim Wendel was awarded the Ken Wangen Award for the most points earned during the Club year.

In the Best of the Rest contest, Mitch Pederson received first place for “Lake Sentinel,” Bernadine Peterson received a second place for “Peaceful” and Jim Wendel received third place for “Old Fence.” End of the year judging was performed by Bob and Betty Peoble.

Members receiving recognition for earning 100 or more points during the Club year competitions were given Century Club Awards. These members are Darcy Sime, Linda Eisterhold, John Eisterhold, Mitch Pederson, Liz Reichl, Bernadine Peterson and Jim Wendel.

The next meeting of the Lens & Shutter Photography Club will be September 17. The competition category will be open. The club meets the third Thursday of the month in Room 465 on the lower level of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea from September through May.
