The Lake Mills girls’ golf team shot a team score of 292 on Friday afternoon in Buffalo Center to win a match against North Iowa and Belmond-Klemme.
Madison Westcott shot a career-low 51 to lead the Bulldogs and take medalist honors. She led a group of golfers who were getting their first varsity experience.
“We had five girls compete in their first-ever golf meet,” Bulldogs coach Brady Kurtz said after the match. “These girls had never picked up a club until a month ago. I thought we performed well for our first time out.”
Finishing second for the Bulldogs was Audrey Casperson, who shot a 76, and Ale Groe took fourth with a 79.
Belmond-Klemme and North Iowa didn’t record team scores due to fielding incomplete teams.
Lake Mills will compete at Eagle Grove on Monday.
