Lake Mills girls fall short against No. 6 Osage

The Lake Mills girls’ basketball team gave an undefeated team in a bigger class a run for their money.

Laura Knudtson led the Bulldogs (8-8) with 18 points, but No. 6 Class 3A Osage (18-0) won 60-54 at Lake Mills.

“Our kids played their hearts out and had them on the ropes deep into the fourth quarter,” said Bulldogs coach Thad Evans. “Hats off to (Osage) for making the plays they needed late in the game.”

Lexi Groe led Class 2A Lake Mills with 11 rebounds and five steals to go with seven points. Jewell Gasteiger added eight points.

The six-point loss improved on a 23-point loss on Dec. 16, 2014 at Osage.

Next, the Bulldogs will host Eagle Grove on Coaches vs. Cancer Day at 6:15 p.m. Friday.

 

Boys’ team beats Osage

The Lake Mills boys’ basketball team beat Osage 63-59 later on Tuesday Lake Mills.

“Granger Kingland, Matt Throne and Josh Peters combined to go 5-of-6 from the line in the final minute to seal the win,” said Bulldogs coach Kyle Menke. “Trevor Hanna did a nice job off the bench.”

Kingland scored a game-high 21 points.
